Long-time youth coach will lead Wildcats

University School of Milwaukee has named Jacob Haury as the head coach for its girls’ co-op hockey team. Haury served as an assistant coach for the team this past season, when the Wildcats won the state championship by defeating the Hayward co-op team 2-1 in March.

The USM co-op team also includes players from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, Nicolet High School, Shorewood High School, and Whitefish Bay High School.

Haury has also served as the director of hockey for Milwaukee Winter Club, the North Shore’s premier youth hockey program, since 2014, and has been a head coach in that program since 2011. He has also served as the head coach for the Wisconsin Elite Hockey League’s U14 program, the Milwaukee Phoenix U14 program, and the Oshkosh Youth Hockey Association, and as an assistant coach for the Kohlman Cup tournament.

“The excitement level around the USM girls’ hockey co-op team is high coming off their state-championship season, and I am confident that Jacob’s familiarity with the program and the returning players will serve him well as he looks to build upon the success that the program has enjoyed,” said USM Director of Athletics Luke Houdek.

Haury replaces Jason Woods, who was named head coach for the USM boys’ hockey program in April following the girls’ co-op team’s run to the state championship.

“I appreciate the trust that has been put in me to lead this great program,” Haury said. “Jason had an amazing run in his seven years as the head coach, and I am excited to take the reins from him and continue the tradition of success that he has established.”
