Wednesday, January 7 – University School Milwaukee

Wednesday night the Stars travelled to face the Wildcats of University School in a Classic Eight divisional matchup. The Wildcats wasted little time pushing their fast paced play on the Stars and taking a 1 -0 lead early in the first period. The Stars answered that goal at 8:37 when Mike Hawthorne took a shot from the left point and Ron Butzen tipped it in to tie the score 1 -1. The period ended tied 1 – 1 with USM outshooting the Stars 14/8. USM came out in the second period in the same manner as the first, pressing hard and scoring two more goal in the first two minutes of the period.  They added one more goal at 9:41 as the period ended with USM leading 4 – 1. One more tally by USM a little better than five minutes into the third period and it was a 5 -1 lead. USM held onto the lead for the balance of the game, outshooting the Stars 28/16. Next up, Greendale on Friday night at the Ponds.
