United wins twice in Santa Shootout tournament

Appleton United 7, Rock County 3

Molly McKeever scored four goals and went over 100 points for her career as the Appleton United girls' hockey team beat Rock County 7-3 on Saturday night in the Appleton Santa Shootout at the Appleton Family Ice Center on Saturday.

McKeever became the fourth player in United history to pass the 100-point mark. She has 104 points in her career and joined teammate Natalie West, who passed 100 career points earlier this season.

Liisa Cramer, Anna Duehring and West also scored goals for Appleton (4-6-1), which beat Chippewa Falls/Menomonie 9-0 earlier in the day.

At Appleton, McKeever and West each scored three goals to lead the United to the victory Saturday morning.

West added three assists and McKeever had two assists.

"They stepped up," United coach Marcus Nejedlo said. "I think they were frustrated with the game from (Friday) night and really came out and led by example. Two of our seniors and both came out and played the 200-foot game that I like to see our players play."

Haley Hill, Maddy Kapheim and Maddi Schultz also scored goals for Appleton, while Mekenzy Hoisington had 18 saves in goal
