Lasers Break A Tight Game Open For The Win

Saturday night at the Joe Raymond Tournament in Waukesha saw KMMO playing Fond Du Lac Springs. The first period saw the game scoreless.

Then the goals were fast and feverish, but KMMO finally pulled away for a 6-3 victory.

Springs took the first lead as the power play was expiring, a pass from the far point to the left circle where Anthony Grebe tallied on a wrist shot for the first goal. KMMO came back two minutes later to tie the game on the rush up the left side Jack Cridelich put a shot past Colin Ahern for the tie, and it was soon broken after that when a scramble by the Springs net saw Nick Bateson score for the KMMO lead at 2-1.

Springs battled back and Anthony Grebe struck again. With the puck being cleared out of the zone off the boards, he was able to race it down and beat two defenders to get a shot off. It went 5 hole on KMMO goalie Paul McLean to even the game up.

KMMO then got that back on a goal by defenseman #9 Connor Freeman. He was able to get a shot off that was stopped, circled around the net, got his own rebound and fired a wrist shot for a 3-2 lead. Next time though it was the Ledgers #9 to tie it up again. Springs used an aggressive forecheck and were able to get the puck out to the slot. At that moment  Conner Blanck was able to wheel around and get a wrist shot off and beat McLean for a 3-3 deadlock late second period.

KMMO broke open the game for good in the last 75 seconds. The race was on for a loose puck and was won by the Lasers Alan Moutvic, who went and deked Ahern for the 4-3 lead after two periods.

KMMO was able to score two more in the third for the final margin with tallies by Alex Manske and Connor Freeman, Freeman finished with a great night of 2 goals and 2 assists, and teammate Alan Moutvic getting a goal and 3 assists..
