It was superb goaltending and tough defense, however, that did the trick in the Waunakee High School boys’ hockey team’s 1-0 Badger North Conference road victory over Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells on Saturday.
“It was a pretty tight checking game,” said Warrior Head Coach Eric Olson. “They didn’t give us a lot of room. Teams are starting to scout us pretty well, but the guys battled through it and kept their composure.”
Freshman netminder Jacques Semandel came up big for Waunakee, recording his first shutout in leading the Warriors to their first win of the season.
Semandel saved all 38 shots he faced.
