Madison Memorial Spartans traveled to Reedsburg to play RWD in Wisconsin Prep Hockey's Game of the Week. RWD entered the game with a 3-0-1 record, while Madison Memorial came with their 3-2-0 record.
McFarland's Ty Pelton-Byce put the Spartans up before the fans were in their seats, when he scored twenty seconds into the game. RWD's Jordan Brown had to spend a little time in the sin bin for roughing at 3:17 of the first, but Madison Memorial wasn't able to score. Jacob Padley gave Memorial a two goal lead with Riley Karns assisting on the play.
RWD was able to cut the lead in half, when Jordan Bill scored at 7:07 of the first with an assist from Dylan Brown. Blake Komplin bumped the lead back to two for Memorial with 1:32 remaining in the first period. Shane Supple and Riley Karns assisted on the goal. Madison Memorial led 3-1 at the end of the first period. Ryan Kenny had 1 save for the Spartans, while Michael Olson had 12 saves for RWD.
While no one scored in the second period, it was a stressful period for Memorial as they were accessed a total of 5 penalties in the period. RWD picked up the first penalty in the period at 2:58 in the second, when Darius Schulz was called for hooking. RWD killed off the penalty. Memorial's Will Larson picked up a 5 minute major for checking from behind at 6:34 of the second. Twenty-three seconds later Shane Supple was called for roughing giving RWD a 5 on 3 opportunity.
