Wisco wins three times on Nationals first day

All three TW boys squads pick up victories in pool play

Wisconsin teams performed well on the first day of pool play in three locales, picking up three wins in five tries as the USA Hockey Nationals got underway on Wednesday.

U18 TW 2, St. Louis Blues 0

Aaron Miller and Mason Appleton each scored for TW as they defeated the Blues. Nathan Siclovan picked up the shutout with a 22 save performance.


U14 TW 4, Boston Jr. Terriers 1

The youngest Wisconsin squad at Nationals opened their tournament with a convincing win. Trey LaBarge scored twice, while Brock Caufield and Sam Miller each chipped in with a score. Mick Messner added two helpers. Adam Larson stopped 20 shots in a winning effort.


Shattuck St. Marys 5, U19 TW 1

The only Wisconsin girls team at Nationals ran into a buzzsaw in SSM. Theresa Knutson scored the lone goal for TW. Kristen Pechacek stopped 20 shots in the contest.


Dallas Jr. Hockey 5, WEHL North Central 1

The NC got a goal from Luc Kreuser in their 5-1 loss against Dallas. Jacob Arno stopped 25 shots for NC.


U16 TW 3, Colorado Thunderbirds 2

Sam McCormick, Kevin Conley, and William Jerry each scored as TW held on for a 3-2 victory over the T-Birds. Henry Cutting had 37 saves for TW.
