As Coaching Director of the Beloit Youth Hockey Association, Jensen observed a disturbing trend. At least it was to him because as a former Beloit Memorial High School player and uncle to the team’s current leading scorer, Tyler Jensen, he still bleeds a little purple.
Statistics show the BYHA — the lifeblood of the high school hockey program — has become less and less populated by kids from the School District of Beloit. That means less headed to play for the Purple Knights.
“It may not be critical next year at the high school, but it’s going to get worse and worse,” said Jensen, who played for BMHS from 1988-91.
