Junior forward eclipses mark of assistant coach Megan Bailey

Junior Nina Andersen broke Megan Bailey's career scoring record in the USM co-op girls hockey game vs Beaver Dam Thursday night. Andersen scored three goals and had two assists in the Wildcats' 14-0 defeat of Beaver Dam.

Bailey had 140 career points in four years playing for the Wildcats. As a result of her hat trick and two assists Thursday, Andersen now has 71 goals and 72 assists for 143 total points in just under three seasons in her high school hockey career.

Bailey now serves as an assistant coach for the Wildcats and coaches the team's forwards. Her coaching has helped Andersen break the record.

“I’m happy for Nina,” said Bailey. “She works hard on the ice and plays well.”

USM’s head coach Jason Woods said, “Nina has had a great career so far. She deserves the record. It’s great to have her holding the record now, and I know she will keep adding to it during the remainder of the season. It’s unique that the person whose record Nina broke is now coaching Nina. Megan took it like a champ. She was happy as anybody to see Nina break that record. Megan gave Nina the game puck tonight.”
