When leadership is lost to injury, team mates must step up...

With two of Marshfield Boys' Varisty Hockey team captains lost for the season due to injury, Jarod Rachu stepped up in a big way Thursday night.  With his team trailing the Wausau East Lumberjacks by a goal late in the third period he capitalized on the perfect opportunity to score his first two goals of the season.

And none were bigger...

When it seemed that East would escape Marshfield with a victory leading 2-1 late in the third period, Rachu and the rest of the Tiger hockey team took control of the game, pressing the East squad relentlessly.  That pressure paid off with 2:12 left to go in the game.  Rachu took a pass from lone remaining team capatain Zach Leggon and beat East goalie Ian Corbett to tie the game.

But Rachu wasn't done yet...

The Tigers continued to press the Lumberjacks and a shot by a Tiger player led to a mad scramble in front of the net where Rachu found the puck and buried the game winner with 33 seconds left in the game.  Senior Andy Wittman earned and assist on the goal along with Leggon.

Senior net minder Brad Krueger had a stellar game in net, saving 28 of 30 shots on goal to preserve the Tigers first conference win of the season.
