Onalaska Hilltoppers Defeat Hudson Raiders

Knutson scores six and assists on two

Weilandt collects 5 points on 1 goal and 4 assists

Saturday evening found the #7 Hudson Raiders playing the #5 Onalaska Hilltoppers at the Omni Center in Onalaska.  The Raiders were playing their first game after clinching the Big Rivers Conference title on Thursday.

Onalaska took the early lead in the game on a goal by Theresa Knutson with Jaimie Weilandt assisting on the play.  Hudson answered back with a goal by Julia Douglas.  Sydney Squires and Paige Johnson assisted on the goal.  The first period came to an end all tied at 1.

The Raiders took the lead 14 seconds into the second period on an unassisted goal by Paige Johnson.  Onalaska dominated the scoreboard for the rest of the period as they responded with five goals.  Kyla Bantle tied the game at two with an assist from Chazlyn Anderson at the 0:57 mark of the second.  Knutson converted a power play opportunity with Lucy Anderholm and Jacyn Reeves assisting on the play at 9 minutes into the period.  Fifteen seconds later, Knutson scored again with an assist from Weilandt.  Knutson scored again with 6:22 left in the second with an assist from Reeves and the Onalaska goaltender, Jeanalyn Schindler.  The final goal of the second period was a short handed, unassisted goal by Knutson with 7.8 seconds on the clock.

Thirteen second into the third Knutson picked up her sixth goal of the evening with Weilandt assisting.  Mackenzie Steinfact scored at 4:16 of the third with Knutson and Weilandt assisting.  Weilandt scored the second short handed goal of the game for the Hilltoppers with Knutson being credited with the assist with 7:16 left in the game.  Thre Raiders tallied one more goal at 11:14 of the third when Julia Pettee scored with an assist from Julia Douglas.

Schindler finished the game with 21 saves through 46 minutes for Onalaska.  Alli Christensen finished the final 5 minutes for the Hilltoppers and was credited with one save.

Nali Mullan was in net for the Raiders and stopped 31 of 40 shots.
