Junior Forward Has A Big Night.

The Janesville Bluebirds were out to avenge a overtime loss to the Brookfield/CMH Stars on Tuesday night. Brookfield/CMH got a 4-3 win in the Joe Raymond Tournament, meaning this game could give the winner an upper hand in the Section 7 seed meeting in 3 weeks.

  Connor Perkins did his part.

The Bluebirds got a 5-3 win over the Brookfield/CMH Stars. Janesville never trailed in the game and scored first on a goal from Sam Drozdowicz. He was camped at the back post when a pass from Sam Iverson found him for the 1-0 lead. The Stars tied it on a goal by Captain Robbie Fosdick, but trailed by a 2-1 deficit after Perkins got his first of the nightwith 36 seconds left in the period.

Perkins gave Janesville a 3-1 lead with an unassisted goal on the power play about halfway thru the second period. But once again Robbie Fosdick was able to get the Stars within a goal when he followed up his shot and put in the rebound. The teams would go into the second intermission tied at 3 when Patrick McKnight scored with 1:36 left in the period.

Janesville was able to break the tie on a JT Smithbacks goal. A 2 on 1 with Tyler Perkins feeding him for the one timer and the lead. Janesville finished the scoring on the power play with Connor Perkins scoring on a feed from Harry Henschler. "It wasn't a pretty power play", said Head coach John Mauermann. But we were able to get it to the net and were fortunate".

Perkins credited his teammates to his success. " I got good teammates who worked hard tonight". "We've been working hard in practice on the offense and it showed tonight". Janesville got 15 saves from Michael MacDougall, some in critical moments of the game while the Stars JJ Murnane finished with 16.
