Eastern Shores Conference Takes Spotlight with Two Games

Fox Cities Stars (0-1-0, 4-1-0) at Bay Area Ice Bears (1-0-0, 3-1-0)

 

The Fox Cities Stars enter this Eastern Shores Conference game fresh off of winning the Wisconsin River Classic in Wisconsin Rapids.  The Stars enter the game being led in assists by Ally Fox with 5.  Fox is tied with Liz Steinmetz for the most goals on the team with 6.  Morgan Talbot is minding the goal for the Stars having stopped 97 of 111 shots.

 

The Ice Bears are riding a three game winning streak.  Kelsey Rafferty leads the team in goals with five.  Courtney Wittig has a team high five assists to go with three goals for a total of eight points.  Lindsey Strainis and Audrie Murphy share time in the net with Strainis having the majority of the time in the early part of the season.  Strainis has stopped 47 of 52 shots for a .902 save percentage.  However, it must be noted that 4 of those goals came against the Central Wisconsin Storm, where she stopped 25 of 29 shots.  Murphy has been very solid in her own right with 24 saves out of 25 shots for a .960 save percentage.

 

Fond du Lac Warbirds (0-1-0, 0-4-0) vs Appleton United (1-0-0, 3-2-0)

 

Fond du Lac is looking to put a mark in the winning column.  This is a rematch of a game played on November 23rd won by the United 2-1.  The United scored the winning goal with 45 seconds remaining in the second period of that game.  Brecken Overbo has scored two goals this season for the Warbirds, while Shelby Sabel has two assists.  Taryn Immel and Jade Van Buren have been minding the goal for Fond du Lac.  Immel has a .917 save percentage by stopping 88 of 96 shots, while Van Buren has stopped 48 of 52 shots for a .923 save percentage.

 

Appleton has suffered two losses on the early part of the season, both to teams currently undefeated (Northland Pines and Central Wisconsin Storm).  Libbey Breaker has played all but one period in net for Appleton.  She has stopped 95 of 110 shots for a .864 save percentage.  Natalie West has been finding the back of the goal the most for the United with 6 goals.  The assist leader is Emma Kohl with 4.
