A Quick Glance at Thursday Night Games

Brookfield Co-op (0-1-0, 0-2-0) at Beaver Dam Co-op (0-1-0, 0-1-0) 5:30 PM

 

The two teams will meet in their second Eastern Shores Conference game. 

Beaver Dam played a close game in the first game of the season against Arrowhead, but came up on the wrong side of a 3-2 final.  This is the third game for Brookfield.  Brookfield fell to the Central Wisconsin Storm on November 23rd and to USM on December 3rd.

 

#3 St. Croix Valley (0-0-0, 3-0-1) at #2 Onalaska Co-op (1-0-0)

 

St. Croix Valley is 3-0 versus Wisconsin teams (Sun Prairie Co-op, WSFLGUS and Hayward) and have tied the St. Paul Blades.  The Fusion have outscored their opponents 14 to 5.  Carlie Christensen has played all four games in net for the Fusion stopping 79 of 84 for a .940 save percentage and a 1.22 goals against average.  Andrea Eliason leads St. Croix Valley in scoring with 4 goals, while Maddie Rowe leads in total points with 3 goals and 5 assists.

 

Onalaska has played one game this season and it was a 7-0 win over Marshfield.  The Hilltoppers’ are led by Theresa Knutson.  Knutson scored 6 goals in their victory over Marshfield, while Jacyn Reeves had 4 assists.  Jeanalyn Schindler played the first two periods in net and had 11 saves.  Alli Christenson played the final period and made 2 saves.

 

#1 Central Wisconsin Storm (5-0-1) at Chippewa Falls (0-0-0, 1-0-0)

 

The Chippewa Falls Co-op Cardinals have played one game this season against the Western Wisconsin Stars (New Richmond Co-op) and won the game 3-2.  Lexi Hermann stopped 27 of 29 shots in the game for a .931 save percentage.  Sydney Schnieder scored two goals in the game, while Kennedy Kerg had the third goal.

 

The Storm started the season with four straight wins.  In a rematch with University School of Milwaukee, the Storm and Wildcats battled to a 3-3 tie.  Three players are tied for the lead with four goals, Kelly Knetter, Maggie Plaza and Katelynn Schilling.  Alex Guenther leads the way in assists with five.  Lisa Fowle has played every game in net stopping 72 of 77 shots for a .935 save percentage and a 0.81 goals allowed average.  Unfortunately, the Storm will be without Knetter’s services due to an injury.

 

Fox Cities Stars (0-1-0, 1-1-0) at Lakeshore Lightning

 

The Stars will be playing their second game against the Lightning.  The first game saw Fox Cities come out on top 7-1. Their second game of the season was against Appleton in an Eastern Shores Conference game where they fell 6-1.  The Stars are led in scoring by Liz Steinmetz with 3 goals and 2 assists.  Morgan Talbot has been minding the goal and has stopped 41 of 48 shots for a .854 save percentage.

 

In their previous meeting, Emily Gabel scored the lone goal for the Lightning.  Erin Connolly stopped 33 of 40 shots for a .825 save percentage.

 

Superior Spartans (2-0-0) at Western Wisconsin Stars (2-2-0)

 

Superior has started the season with two straight wins.  They defeated the ECA Stars 5-3 in their opening game of the season, while defeating Silver Bay 7-2 in their second game.  Emma Petrson leads the Spartans with 5 goals, while Ari Jago has 3 assists.  The goalies have split time in the net.  Missy Walkowiak played the first game stopping 22 of 25 shots for a .880 save percentage.  Justine Stenberg played the second game and stopped 23 of 25 shots for a .920 save percentage.

 

Western Wisconsin Stars have played four games with three of them being in the Black River Falls Tournament on Thanksgiving weekend.  Bailey Erickson leads the way with 7 goals, while Ashley Dusek and Alli Wielinski are tied with 4 assists for the Stars.  The goaltending has been done by Tina Montpetit.  Montpetit has stopped 105 of 116 shots for a .905 save percentage and a 2.67 goals per game.

 

Point Rapids Red Panthers (1-0-0, 1-1-0) at Waupaca Comets (0-1-0, 0-4-0)

 

The Red Panthers opened the season against the Central Wisconsin Storm and dropped a 6-1 decision.   Emily Bubla played the entire game in net and faced a barrage of shots in each period (21 in the first, 14 in the second and 26 in the third).  Their second game was a Great Northern Conference game against Marshfield.  Bubla started the game in goal and stopped all 15 shots she faced in the first 24:22 of the game.  Merina Chappel played the final 26:38 of the game and stopped 17 of 18 shots.  The goaltending change came after the Red Panthers took a 4-0 lead in route to a 6-1 victory.  Rachel Metz and Katrina Hassig lead the team in goals with two each.  Amanda Milanowski, Bryar Brooks and Rachel Metz each have 2 assists.  Bubla has stopped 70 of 76 shots on the season for a .921 save percentage. 

The Comets are coming in off a 6-4 loss to the Northern Edge in the conference opener on Monday.  Brianne Huettner leads the Comets with 5 goals, while Mandy Tomlinson has 4 goals.  Tomlinson has 4 assists, Huettner has 2 assists and Katarina Otter has 1 assist.  Cassie Rassmussen has stopped 114 of 142 shots for an .803 save percentage.
