Coach Harker and his Assistant Coach Kayla Chilstrom are both entering their third year with the Spartans. The past two years the team has been in a rebuilding mode. They competed in the Lake Superior Conference MSHHL playing against many Minnesota based teams. Playing well every game against top tier team has given the team the attitude and determination to keep pushing on. The team is looking for a good run into playoffs this year . The Spartan coaching staff hail from both girls/boys Tier 1 youth hockey from Colorado, Minnesota and Wisconsin and combine for over 30 years of coaching experience.

The 2012-13 season for the Spartans ended with a tough 3-1 loss in the first round of sectionals at River Falls, but showed they are on the right track towards becoming a competitive team. At the midpoint of the season, the Spartans had 6 of their starters down with injuries, but the rest of the team was able to keep forging ahead for the remainder of the season.

The Spartans graduated three seniors, all of them captains: Kelsey Reder, Paige Gilbertson and Kari Miller. Miller was 2^nd in scoring and very creative in the offensive zone while Gilbertson was the 3^rd in scoring on the team and will be missed defensively. Reder will be missed for her work along the boards. Gilbertson was All Conference selection from the Lake Superior conference.
