Tim Quinn to Lead USM

Legendary coach Cal Roadhouse has announced his retirement after 28 years as the head coach of the University School of Milwaukee boys’ hockey program.

Despite the retirement announcement, the USM boys’ hockey program remains in a position as one of the great all-time prep hockey programs in Wisconsin. Ten players return to the team this season, and this team is also expected to compete for a state title.

Tim Quinn, USM’s Assistant Head of Upper School, will be stepping in to coach the team on an interim basis. All current members of the staff will return for the upcoming season as well.

Quinn played prep school hockey at Westminster School in Simsbury, Connecticut, and played four years of college hockey at Amherst College and served as Team Captain in 2000.

He has coached previously at Avon Old Farms School (two years) in Avon, Connecticut, Wentworth Institute of Technology (one year) in Boston, Massachusetts, and Westminster School (six years) in Simsbury, Connecticut. In his year at Wentworth, the team won the 2003 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast title and advanced to the NCAA Division III quarterfinals. While at Westminster, his teams were New England Elite Tournament semifinalists (2010), Flood-Marr tournament champions (2010), and New England Large School champions (2011). A number of players from those teams also went on to play NCAA hockey at all levels, with some also advancing to the professional leagues.

A national search for a permanent head coach will commence later this year, and the position is expected to attract highly-qualified head coaching candidates.
