Vikings name former Beaver as Head Coach

Kris Rosholt introduced as the new head coach for Boys Hockey at Stoughton

Thursday evening found Stoughton's Athletic Director, Mel Dow, introducing Kris Rosholt as the new head coach for the Vikings boys' high school hockey team. Also, everyone was informed Kris will be teaching physical education and health at River Bluff Middle School.

Kris Rosholt has a very good knowledge of the Badger North and South Conference.  He grew up in Reedsburg, WI, where his parents were teachers and education became very important to Kris.  He graduated from Reedsburg Area High School in 2006.  Kris was a varsity athlete at Reedsburg in football, hockey and baseball.  His passion was for hockey, which he started playing at the age of 3.  After high school, Kris went on to attend college at UW-Whitewater.  While Kris was the starting punter on three national championship teams, he stated his greatest accomplishment was his grades.

Kris is well remembered for his athletic accomplishments in Reedsburg.  This was in evidence this season, when three of RWD's team captains mentioned him as an inspiration in the correct way to conduct themselves as hockey players and captains.  They remembered his hard work and hustle, but even more for taking the time to come and work with the youth players in the Reedsburg Youth Hockey Association.

Thursday was an opportunity for players and parents to see a little bit of Kris' passion for hockey and his organizational skills.  Coach Rosholt was prepared with a powerpoint presentation to emphasize how he hopes to approach the task of coaching and his hopes and dreams for the program.

When Kris' former high school coach Neil Mattson heard of his hiring as the head coach for Stoughton he stated, "Very happy for him. Always a hard worker when he played.  He is going to make a great coach."

If Thursday was any indication of what to expect from Stoughton in the seasons to come under Coach Rosholt, teams can expect the Vikings to continue to be a tough competitor.  Good luck to Coach Rosholt and the Vikings.
