Knetter scores twice in defeat at hand of Chicago Mission

SATURDAY
Chicago Mission 3, TW 2
Kelly Knetter (Central WI Storm) scored twice but it wasn't enough as the Chicago Mission snuck past Team Wisconsin 3-2 in USA Nationals quarterfinal action Saturday in San Jose.

Meagan Ondrick scored 11 minutes into the first period to give CM a 1-0 lead, and that's how the period would end.

Knetter scored a short-handed goal six minutes into the second period with an assist from Wendy Roberts (WSFLG) to tie the game at one.

Amanda Conway took advantage of a TW penalty and scored a power play goal with 2:14 left to give the Mission a 2-1 lead which would carry into the third period.

Knetter scored to tie the game at 2:43 of the third, with an assist to Elizabeth Woodman (Rock County Fury).

Morgan Turner scored for the Mission with 6:14 left to make it 3-2, but TW would have one more shot.

After a checking from behind penalty on Mission, TW had the last 4:24 with a 5-on-4 advantage but were unable to score the tying goal, even with goalie Leah Patrick off for an extra attacker for the final 56 seconds.

Patrick finished with 30 saves for TW, while Amanda Dinella stopped 24 shots for the victors.

Team Wisconsin finished the tourney with a record of 1-3, but played very well and made all their fans proud.

Nice job, ladies!!
