Storm's Leahy notches shutout with 26 saves

Sean Leahy and Tyler Jansen put on a goaltending clinic Tuesday night at the Ozaukee Ice Center, but it would be Leahy who would skate off with a 2-0 shutout victory and give his WNS Storm a commanding two game lead in the conference standings.

Andy Keith's power play goal just 4-1/2 minutes into the first period would turn out to be the winner for WNS.

The Bulldogs appeared to gain momentum late in the first period and peppered Leahy with a salvo of shots from close range over a two minute span - all spurned by the Storm netminder.

The second period turned more physical and grinding as it became apparent that goals would be difficult to come by. Jansen made two huge saves early in the 2nd period - the first on a point blank shot from the slot and another just seconds later on a redirect - to keep Cedarburg in the fight. Leahy would counter at the other end minutes later stoning a breakaway attempt, and then Jansen halting a breakaway with under a minute remaining in the 2nd.

WNS would finally get breathing space with just over eight minutes remaining in the final period when Drew Kneisel shoveled in a backhand rebound following defenseman Colin Downing's shot from the point.

The two-goal margin was ample cushion for the stingy defense and goaltending to salt away the win.

Jansen finished with 40 saves and Leahy 26 saves. WNS improved to 16-3-1 with the win.
