West Salem senior hopes school project starts a pond hockey tradition

Luke Langreck is one of the few people in the Coulee Region who was happy when recent weather forecasts called for frigid temperatures and several inches of snow.

The West Salem High School senior is working on a unique addition to the area’s sports scene, and wintry weather is a big help.

Langreck, 17, is coordinating the inaugural Lake Neshonoc Pond Hockey Tournament on Feb. 8-9 on Lake Neshonoc in West Salem as his senior exit project.
