Bounces don't go Lasers hockey team's way

The Kettle Moraine/Mukwonago/Oconomowoc boys hockey team continued to find itself in tight contests, falling by a 2-1 count to host Stoughton on Tuesday.

Stoughton scored within the first two minutes in the first period, but the Lasers defense tightened and found an equalizer at 13:47 in the second, when Jim Rice picked up a score on an assist from Allen Moutvic.

But Stoughton had the last laugh, scoring with just 1:15 to play in the third to send the Lasers home unhappy. The Lasers outshot their opponent, 40-31, and Quinn Disrud made 29 saves.

"Quinn made all the necessary saves, he played great," coach John Brymer said. "The first shot was one where a kid crossed the blue line, used our defensemen for a screen and unleashed a rocket of a shot and Quinn didn't really see it until it was too late. It was not the way we wanted to start."

The Lasers slipped to 4-4 overall, with three of those losses coming by razor-thin margins.

"We put everything toward the net in the second and third period that we could after we only got six shots in the first period," Brymer said. "We're just a bounce away from putting home goals. We're right there, doing all the things we're supposed to be doing, and things aren't going our way here.

"I'm not disappointed, I'm happy with the way we played the last two games. We're working hard, doing the things we're supposed to be doing. We're a little snakebit, and those things change, so we'll come out of it."
