Three Power Play Goals Key to Win

The Janesville Bluebirds and Madison West Regents got together on this Thursday night in Big Eight Conference play.

Madison West had came in with a one loss record while Janesville was trying to get going thru injuries and growing pains. But it was the Bluebirds who left with a convincing 6-1 win.

"We didn't have it tonight," said West Coach Brett Farley. "You gotta chalk it up to experience and we'll be a better team from it."

Janesville got on the board twice in the first period as Clay Simonson scored halfway thru the period and got a timely goal from Connor Perkins who let off a blast from just inside the blue line past Henry Cutting with 35 seconds left in the period.

"We got a soft goal late in the first and gave us some momentum to the second period," said Janesville Coach John Mauermann.

The second period saw Janesville put it away with three tallies: Winn Lyons, Connor Perkins (second goal), and Mike Money. West tallied early in the third period from a goal from Max Lentz, but Janesville took their five-goal lead back with a goal from Dane Tyler for the final 6-1 score.
