The Fond du Lac co-op girls hockey team beat Appleton United 4-2 on Thursday night at the Blue Line.

The Warbirds took command early with three first-period goals. Shelby Sabel needed just 38 seconds to put the hosts on the board, while Shannon Jaeger and Bailey Hoch added goals 11 seconds apart midway through the period. Jaeger added an empty net goal late in the game.

Taryn Immel stopped 38 shots for the Warbirds who improve to 3-2-1 overall and 2-1 in the Eastern Shores.

“This is a great conference win for us,” said Warbirds coach Duane Woeshnick. “We tied them the last time, and to knock off the seventh-ranked team in the state is a huge improvement for us.”
