The Wildcats end three-game losing streak

The University School co-op girls’ hockey team defeated Beaver Dam 14-0 in an Eastern Shores Conference game Friday night at USM.

The Wildcats ended a three-game losing streak as they won their first game of the season and of their first conference schedule.

Nina Andersen opened USM’s scoring barrage. As the Wildcats cycled the puck low in the Beaver Dam zone, Meredith Behm got the puck in the left circle on a pass by Rachel Lowe and fired it on net. Andersen moved to the doorstep like Brinks truck at the entrance to a bank, and snapped the rebound in with 11:45 left in the period.

Liz Curley scored another goal for USM just over a minute later and the Wildcats begin to score at will.  They added 4 more in the first period, scored 5 in the second period and 3 in the third period.

Andersen went on to score 4 more goals and assist on 2 others to lead the Wildcats in scoring. Rose Revolinski contributed 2 goals and 4 assists, and Behm had 1 goal and 4 assists.

“It was good to finally get a win and score lots of goals in a game,” said Jason Woods, USM’s head coach.  “The girls worked hard.  We had eight different girls score for us tonight, including a couple who scored their first goal ever. Still, I give Beaver Dam credit.  They never gave up. But this win will help us. We’re continuing to improve and that’s important as we head into a big game against Brookfield in our tournament Thursday. “

USM is now 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference. The Wildcats face Brookfield at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the opening round of the USM Girls Hockey Classic.
