Great showing on big stage for Badger State girls

SUNDAY UPDATE:
Chicago Mission slipped past Team Wisconsin 4-3 in the World Hockey Invite title game, settling for the runner-up spot. It was a great weekend overall, as TW notched a 4-1-1 record and outscored their opponents by a cumulative score of 22-5, including four shutouts.

"It was a great showing for our program and the girls have much to be proud of for their efforts this weekend," noted head coach Andy Bradford.

Team Wisconsin won an exciting 1-0 game over Belle Tire Sunday morning and will move on to the World Hockey Invite championship game against the Chicago Mission at 3:15pm this afternoon.

Kassie Lien scored the lone TW goal on an assist from Paige Johnson. Goalie Kristen Pechacek stopped 16 shots for the shutout.

SATURDAY UPDATE:
The quarterfinal round pitted TW versus Scanlon Creek of Barrie, Ontario. The Badger girls pulled off their third shutout, and escaped with a 2-0 win to advance to the semifinals, where they will oppose Belle Tire at 9:50am Sunday.

The TW girls found Saturday's opponent a little tougher, as they skated to a 1-1 tie with Little Caesars early on Saturday.

TW finishes the pool play portion of its schedule with a 2-0-1 mark, and will either be seeded first or second, depending on the outcome of the Ontario Hockey Academy's game Saturday morning.

Team Wisconsin notched two shutouts Friday in Opening Day action, blanking the Anaheim Lady Ducks 7-0 and Compuware 8-0.
