NAHL Draft claims eight Wisconsin players

Janesville and Coulee Region nab state players

The NAHL Draft was held Thursday, May 31, and a handful of Wisconsin prep players were chosen, including two that were already on USHL rosters.

The first pick of the draft was held by Minot, and they selected forward Dan Sherer of the Indiana Ice USHL team. He is a Nashotah, WI native.

Fairbanks grabbed Superior defenseman Brett Bukowski with the 23rd overall pick in the 1st round.

The second round saw two Badger boys selected.

Verona forward Eddie Matsushima was tabbed by Coulee Region as the 28th overall and Todd Koritzinsky of the Youngstown USHL squad was chosen in the 41st overall spot. Koritzinsky is originally from Middleton.

In the third round, Fairbanks grabbed Wausau West forward Kyle Lee in the 68th overall selection.

One round later, in the 71st spot, Brookings tabbed goalie Nick Deery of the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs. Deery is a LaCrosse native. Eleven picks later, the Janesville Jets picked forward Austin Vieth of Notre Dame.

The seventh round saw Texas choose defenseman Nick LeSage of the Madison Capitols with the 129th pick. LeSage is an Ashwaubenon native.
