Late goal by Yozamp is game-winner

Zach Yozamp's rebound goal with under two minutes left was the game-winner as Section Six slipped past Section Two 4-3 Friday night at the SCT in Waupun.

S6 started the game like they wanted to run away with it and scored the first goal just over five minutes in.

Mike Stevens took a shot from the outside of the left circle and the puck snuck past the blocker of goalie Dan Hanna to make it 1-0 at the 5:28 mark.

That's the way the period would end, with S6 holding a 16-8 shot advantage.

S6 made it 2-0 when Matt Bulovsky skated in on a semi-breakaway, crossing from left to right in the slot before sliding the puck past Hanna at the 4:07 mark of the second.

Player of the Year Kody Novinska showed why he earned the award, with a great individual effort while on the PK. The Rice Lake star chased hard behind the net and came up with the puck before sneaking it between goalie Brian Opsal's left pad and the post to cut the lead in half at 7:58.

It looked the score would remain in favor of S6, but the Sixers took two penalties in a span of 13 seconds with less than a minute to go and it would wind up costing them.

While on a 5-on-3, Logan Murphy ripped a shot past the blocker of new goalie Travis Dahlk with just six seconds left in the stanza to tie the score.

S6 held a 14-8 shot margin in the period.

Jason Ford made it 3-2 for Section Six when he grabbed a pass from Taylor Brown and buried the puck on the glove side of goalie Zach Holmes at 4:18 of the third.

It took just over ten minutes, but Novinska tied the game when he took a pass from Murphy and zipped it past Dahlk's glove from the low left side at the 14:57 mark.

The winner came when Yozamp buried a rebound with 1:36 left for Section Six.

Opsal (11) and Dahlk (13) combined for two dozen saves in the winning effort. Hanna (19) and Holmes (20) notched 39 saves for Section Two.
