The younger Teams Wisconsin had more success at the WAHA State Tournament than the two flagship teams, the Major midgets and the U19 Girls. The Bantams, the Minor Midgets, and the U16 Girls were all victorious and have advanced to the Central District Tournament to be held next weekend in St. Louis.

The TW Bantams were 2-0 entering Sunday action against Jr. Admirals, who were also 2-0. So even though this was just another game in the four-team round-robin schedule, it was the defacto championship game. The winner would sit alone at 3-0.

The combination of Tarek Baker (Verona) and Sam McCormick (Notre Dame) was too much for the Admirals. Baker scored off an offensive zone face-off  in the first period, with assists from McCormick and Tony Stillwell. The Admirals managed to tie the score with with 3:04 to go. Then with just 9 ticks left in the period McCormick got behind the Admirals defense and caught a perfect pass from Baker. He walked in and deked the goalie for a 2-0 lead.

The duo struck again in the second period, turning a 2 on 1 into a 2 on goalie, who never really had a chance when McCormick passed to Baker at the last moment. Alec Broetzman added an insurance goal when he worked the puck out of the corner to behind the net, then stepped out front and shoved it between the goalie's legs for a 4-1 lead that would last the rest of the game.

Max McConnell played the entire game in net this time for TW.

TW found themselves in another "championship" game on Sunday, facing off against the Madison Captiols, both teams having previously beaten the Jr. Admirals.

Jacob Kupsky pitched a shutout for TW, who came away with a 2-0 win. Thomas Fazio scored the game winner for TW on a shot from the point through heavy traffic.

While the U16's were playing on Rink B, the U18 team was also in a win and advance game on Rink A. Both the Jr. Adminrals and TW had previously beaten the Madison Captiols, although the Admirals needed a shoot-out to cap their win on Saturday.

Both goaltenders brought their A games, Tyler Platz for the Admirals, and Chris Nell for TW. The first two periods went by with several good scoring chances, but no actual scoring.

TW struck first early in the third period. Tim Davison took a slapshot from the point that was several feet wide to the right of the net, but it hit Ashton Wackym's skate and deflected behind the goalie into the net for a 1-0 lead.

The lead lasted only two mintues. Nell made a beautiful sliding save to stop a 2 on 1, but before he could recover and get back in position, the puck was fed to the front of the net for an easy tap-in goal.

The rest of the period and one overtime period yielded no more goals. Since this was still considered round-robin play, and not an actual advancement game, the rules said a shoot-out would determine the state champion.

Jason Ford, Kyle Lee, Taylor Brown, and Tim Davison all came up empty for TW. Luke Noval and Kyle Schmidt, the first and fourth shooters, scored for the Admirals.

Another round-robin game, another defacto championship game, as both teams had previously beaten the Jr. Admirals. Emilie Anderson (Black River Falls) was in net for TW.

After a scoreless first period, Madison capitalized on a power play opportunity, scoring just 57 seconds into the second period. The Capitols scored again 2 1/2 minutes later and the second period ended with a 2-0 deficit for TW.

Lauren Roethlisberger scored a pair of goals early in the third period to tie the game for TW. The first goal came on a wild scramble in front of the Caps' net, Roethlisberger was able to eventually coral the puck and flip it over the Capitols' goalie and put TW on the board. Two minutes later she got a pass from the corner and rifled a one-timer from the top of the right faceoff circle to knot it up at 2.

The Capitols regained the lead with a power play goal, and then added an insurance tally on a 3 on 1 rush up the ice to complete the scoring and the 4-2 win.
