Lee chosen as state tournament MVP

West senior forward a unanimous selection

Although his team came up just short in its attempt to earn a second consecutive state title, Wausau West senior forward Kyle Lee was named the 2012 WIAA State Tournament MVP in balloting conducted by Wisconsin Prep Hockey. 

Lee--a Player of the Year finalist--led the tournament scoring list with nine points on four goals and five assists. 

Joining Lee on the first team at forward were Notre Dame's Jason Reynolds and Riley Christensen.

On defense were Tim Davison of Notre Dame and Seth Wage of Wausau West.

Notre Dame goaltender Chris Nell earned first team status.

The second team was comprised of forwards Eddie Matsushima (Verona), Kevin Conley (Wausau West), and Mason Appleton (Notre Dame).

Defensemen were Luke Davison (Notre Dame) and John Feemster (Wausau West).

Wausau West goalie Sam Wiegert earned second team honors. 

Also receiving votes were:
FORWARDS--Matthew Knapp (Eau Claire Memorial), Patrick O'Brien (Brookfield), Zach Jones (Verona), Will Pavek (Notre Dame), Brett Gruber (Notre Dame), P.J. Corbett (Brookfield), Daniel Litchke (Superior), and Zac Keryluk (Verona).

DEFENSEMEN--Cole Gastel (Verona), Matt Fosdick (Brookfield), Brett Bukowski (Superior), and Alex Watzke (Verona).
