WISCONSIN RAPIDS - It was more of the same for the Fox Cities Stars (13-1) as they continue to make quick work of most teams standing in their way. This time, it was Wisconsin Rapids (4-8) to see firsthand how good this Stars team can be as the two sides met for a weekend non-conference affair on Saturday.

Backed by a four-goal first period and a 13-save performance from Elliott Reichenbacher, it was the Stars coming away with another dominating win as they shut out the Raiders 6-0. This was one of those games that was decided in the first period as the Stars came out flying with four first-period goals and never looked back. Ironically, all of those goals came after the midway point in the opening period, as it took the Stars a bit to settle in.

All it took to awaken the Stars' offense was a goal from Junior defensemen Asher Buck, who took the Cale Adamovich pass and put it past Raleigh Bastien to put the Stars on top for good, 1-0. That was Buck’s second goal of the season, and first since very early in the year. That was the goal that seemed to jumpstart the Stars offense as they finished with 24 shots in the first period in what wound up being a 51-shot night for the Stars offense.

Roughly three minutes after scoring their first goal of the night, the Stars were at it again with Xander Herron lighting the lamp at the 11:15 mark to double the Stars' lead 2-0. Buck and Kellan Murphy were credited with the assists on that play as Fox Cities was doing a great job controlling the puck. Less than a minute later, it was the red-hot Andrew Ostermann coming through as he added the first of his two goals to push the Fox Cities lead to 3-0.

Ostermann would add his second goal later in the first period to make things 4-0 as Wisconsin Rapids was searching for answers early on. Despite trailing by four goals in the opening period, you have to give the Rapids some credit for their continued fight as they began to tighten up defensively the rest of the way. After allowing 24 shots in the first period, the Raiders held the Stars to just 27 shots over the final two frames, including 11 shots in the third.

That effort alone helped Bastien settle in between the pipes, but the Stars still found ways to get the job done in the second as they continued to have their way early on. Once again, it took the Stars nearly half the second period to put one in the back of the net as Parker Janssen took the pass from Cale Adamovich and Ostermann, and buried home the Power Play goal as the Stars pushed their lead to 5-0.

Exactly three minutes later, the Stars found themselves with another Power Play opportunity as they have been one of the best teams in the state with an extra skater. As was the case once again, Ostermann played a huge role on this power play, passing the puck off to Preston McGinnis, who found Weston Beyer near the crease. Beyer took care of the rest from there as he banged home the Stars' second power play goal of the period to push the lead to 6-0 as Fox Cities found themselves in complete command of this one.

That was the final goal for either side in this one as the third period was filled with wide open ice play, but no goals as Fox Cities wins their fifth straight game 6-0. This marks the second five-game winning streak of the season for Fox Cities after starting the season 8-0 as they have been a dominating force all season. Next on the docket for the Stars is a matchup with their Badgerland Conference rival, Oshkosh, on Tuesday night, before things get a bit more challenging over the weekend.
