Karl's four points lead Marshfield over Northern Edge

Tigers shut out Rhinelander/Antigo Co-op 7-0

Marshfield goalie Alexis Straughan got to take the day off on Monday as the Tigers held the Northern Edge without a shot on goal in a 7-0 Great Northern Conference win in Marshfield. Sophie Schmidt, on the other hand, had 68 pucks fired at her, stopping 61 of them for the Edge in the loss.

Nicole Karl led the way offensively for the Tigers with a goal in the first and another in the second. She also contributed two assists in the winning effort. Nell Eichten led off the scoring for Marshfield, finding the back of the net just 47 seconds into the game. Tori Esser assisted on the play. After Karl scored the second goal, Bailey Jozwiak put the Tigers up front 3-0 to round out the scoring in the first period.

Esser started things off in the second for the Tigers at 1:22 with assists from Eichten and Paige Johnson. Karl again scored the second goal of the period, this time assisted by Johnson. The pair reversed roles with less than a minute to go to round out the scoring in the second period.

Charlotte Tierney notched the only goal of the third period at 2:48, assisted by Karl and Emily Wolfe.

Marshfield will host the Tomahawk Hatchets in a Great Northern Conference game on Thursday, while the Northern Edge are off until Friday when they host Lakeland in a GNC game.
