In the final semi-final of two days of great hockey the #2 Notre Dame Academy Tritons took on the #3 Madison Edgewood Crusaders on Friday night at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena.

In what was a tight, low shot game the Tritons used a big first period and let their defense lead the rest of the way to win 4-1 and earn a repeat berth in the state championship game.

Notre Dame was first on the scoreboard with two goals in 1:01 about 6 minutes into the first period. On the first James Flanigan outraced the Edgewood defense to the puck in the corner and hit Andrew Ostermann in front for a one-timer goal. 

The second at the seven minute mark was a glove-side wrister from Owen Atkinson from inside the right faceoff circle. 

They extended the lead to 3-0 at the 12:51 mark of the first period on a power play. Owen Atkinson made a cross-ice pass to Ian Noble who fired a wrister in to the open net.

Edgewood nearly broke the seal just 58 seconds into the second period. Lleyton Jaschke stopped a hard shot from up high but it snuck by him and was trickling toward the goal line. Nathan Antti on defense was able to keep it out of the net and tucked it under Jaschke.

Edgewood would finally crack the net at 5:12 of the second period on power play on a high slot snipe by Davis Halbleib into the high blocker side corner.

Wyatt Herres added an empty net goal for Notre Dame with 39 seconds left in the game after a quiet third period.

Rowan White had 19 saves for Edgewood in the loss, and Jaschke had 16 in the win for Notre Dame.

Notre Dame will take on Brookfield on Saturday to defend their title.
