The Wisconsin Hockey Coaches Association is proud to announce our award winners from the State Tournament Banquet held last night at the Marriott in Middleton, WI. All of the State qualifying teams, along with the player of the year, coach of the year, and the Jeff Sauer Award nominees and their families, were in attendance.
The State Academic Awards were handed out. Congratulations to the 8 Sectional Academic Champions. Earning the State Academice Championship with an incredible team GPA of 3.87 was the Toamahawk Hatchets and head coach Dewey Reilly. Coach Reilly said " Very proud of what our team has accomplished on the ice and in the classroom. It has been a privilege to be a part of this team. A great group of student-athletes"
The WHCA Awarded its George Baumann Friend of Hockey Award to Dave Crisman. WHCA President Brandt said, "Dave Crisman has been a coach and a long time referee for the High School game. He understands that high school hockey is an extension of the classroom and his role in educating and molding the next generation of leaders"
The Bob Johnson Coach of the Year was awarded to Chippewa Falls Head Coach Scott Parker. Congratulations to him and the season his team is having.
The Coach Sauer Foundation awarded the Jeff Sauer Hockey Humanitarian Award. The Jeff Sauer Award’s goal is to recognize good high school hockey players as great people. This years recipient was Autumn Cooper a Senior from Superior.
The WHCA Player of the Year, as voted on by the WHCA Head Coaches, was awarded to Senior Forward from Chippewa Falls. Coach Scot Parker says, " Jackson works hard at the game of hockey and continues to improve every day."
