Do you want to be a college hockey player but not play juniors? If you answer yes, the ACHA Showcase being held in Chicago April 26-28 is an opportunity to learn more about playing club hockey in college. The ACHA Showcase has a boys and girls division.

Club college hockey is not NCAA hockey. Club teams are through the college recreation department, whereas the NCAA is through the college athletics department. Please note, the Minnesota HP NIT tournament, which Wisconsin sends two teams to, is held the same weekend as the ACHA Showcase. These are two separate events. ACHA Showcase is open for enrollment until the event is full. The MN HP NIT is highly selective with elite WIAA players and rosters will be determined in March.

“Players register individually and are assigned to a team. Each team has one practice Friday with college coaches (ACHA club coaches). On Saturday each team plays two games and between the games we have an educational panel where players can meet and get info about the colleges and teams (ACHA club teams). On Sunday each team has one game. The boys are sophomores and older. The girls are freshman and older.” Andy Pape, Coordinator of Amateur Hockey Programs, Chicago Blackhawks and Site Coordinator for ACHA Showcase
