With playoff seeding done, the Brookfield Stars and SPASH Panthers used Tuesday night's game to tune up for playoffs. Both teams have enjoyed successful seasons and this game would be a good ramp up to next week.

Both teams look ready to go as nothing was decided as they played to a 3-3 tie at The Ponds of Brookfield.

The Panthers jumped out early in the game. About the halfway point of the opening period SPASH got a goal by Jerome Poirier. A shot was taken at the Brookfield net and banged off the glass. Before Augie Jones could get to the post Poirier was able to tap home the rebound.

SPASH again scored with about ten minutes left in the second period. Point's Jackson Schroeder was out in the slot and was able to go glove side for a 2-0 Point lead.

The Staers were able to get one back though. Adam Sexton got a stretch pass behind the Panther defense and went in and scored for a 2-1 game thru two periods.

In the third period the Stars had a power play, and Preston Slater used a deflection to tie the game at 2 apiece. Brookfield was able to take the lead on a freaky play. Cooper Simon was dumping the puck in from the neutral zone and it took a crazy hop and eluded SPASH goalie Mason Spurlin. Brookfield put a lot of effort into getting a lead, but the Panthers came back to tie it on a goal by Grady Miller, who was able to poke home a rebound for a tie again at 3 all.

Overtime was played and besides 2 power plays by SPASH, they couldn't get the game winner.

Both goalies played well. Mason Spurlin had 45 saves, while Stars' goalie Augie Jones had 35.

Up next for SPASH is a game with the Fondy Cardinals in their regular season finale. Brookfield meanwhile hosts Madison Memorial on Friday.
