Fetherstons goal the lone tally in the win

The USM Wildcats and Rock County Fury played a very fast game Tuesday night in Janesville. In  a game that had only four penalties, and great pace the only question was when someone would score.

It took until the third period and only happened once.

Senior Charlotte Fetherston was able to get a pass and chip it around a defender and put it over the shoulder of Fury goalie Jillian Traver for a game winning 1-0 score .

After a scoreless first period and a scoreless second period, it came down to the final 17 minutes.

Both teams didn't  make many mistakes. One mistake of a defender turning the wrong way was the only difference.

After the lone goal the Fury pushed there pace even more. The Fury had some zone time on 2 power plays but Emma Kligora's shot was stopped by the crossbar and the Fury suffered a tough nonconference loss.

" I think from the beginning it was a pretty entertaining game on both ends ", said Wildcat Senior Charlotte Fetherston. Wildcat Goalie Molly Jex had 36 saves in the shutout that was threatened late by Emma Kligora who split 2 defenders and missed the net on a quality shot.

Fetherston had praise for Molly Jex's play,  "Shes outstanding every single game. Shes the rock on the team".

Not to be lost in the mix was Fury goalie Jillian Traver who play a great game stopping 39 of 40 shots.

USM is now 11-4 on the season. The Fury is now 10-6. The Fury play Badger Lightning Thursday in Beloit. USM travels next to Bay Area for a Friday night game.
