In dominating fashion, the Wisconsin Selects closed the pre-season portion of their schedule with 6-0 and 4-1 wins over the Chicago Bruins. The Selects launched 106 shots over the two games while only allowing twenty-two. They will head into the break for the WIAA season with a 17-4-1 record.
Playing at Cornerstone Community Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin scored a pair of goals in each period as they shutout Chicago 6-0. Addy Buesgen and Reese Sheehan each scored on below the goal line feeds from Zowie Hunter and Addy Milota. Buesgen netted her second on a great pass from Mallory Schmidt and defenseman Tiana Stindt pounced on a rebound to make it 4-0 in the second period. Ashley Slupe ripped a shot from outside the right dot and Hunter collected her 14th goal from the high slot in period three. Buesgen assisted on both goals for a four-point game.
Chicago opened the scoring in game two midway through the first period. Stindt executed a high cycle with forward Julia Purintun, then cut to the middle and buried a wrist shot to tie the game at 1-1. Hunter tallied her team leading 15th goal later in the period to give Selects a 2-1 lead. Sheehan and Slupe each scored their second of the day to close out the scoring in the final two periods of a 4-1 win.
Goaltenders Greta Woelber and Sydney Magnuson split time in each game finishing with a combined 21 saves. Magnuson finished the pre-season with an 8-2-1 record and team best 1.06 GAA. Woelber was undefeated at 4-0, filling in for the injured Makenna Hutchison who went 5-2 with a team best 93.8 save percentage.
The Selects will be back in action following the conclusion of the WIAA season. They will compete in the Central District playoffs to earn the right to play in the Chipotle National Tier II U-19 Tournament in East Lansing, Michigan, April 3rd through the 7th.

The Selects are coached by Head Coach Emily Bauer and assistant coaches Steve Kirley, Greg Slupe and Dan Bauer. General Manager of the Selects is Mike Cowan.
