Jackson Hoem is having a spectacular start to the 2023/24 season. The Chippewa Falls senior is currently the leading goal scorer of Team Wisconsin U18. Jackson’s hard work has been recognized and he was selected as the only player from Wisconsin for the All-Star team of the Upper Midwest Elite League (UMEL). The UMEL is generally regarded as the best league below juniors in the United States. The UMEL games are in fall prior to the start of the high school season, and the players are from Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Dakota, except for Shattuck Prep which recruits players worldwide.
The UMEL All-Star team will play two games against USA Hockey’s NTDP 17 team. These games provide a Wisconsin connection as Jackson Hoem of Chippewa Falls will be competing against Drew Schock, a defenseman on Notre Dame’s 2023 WIAA state championship team, and current player on the NTDP 17 team.
"I feel honored and excited to be picked for the all-star team. I am excited to play NTDP and the high level of competition. The league (UMEL) is very fast paced and better than I expected…if you are not playing at your best, you can get exposed as a player and team. My goals for the remainder of the TW fall season are to grow as a player, improve and help the team win more games. I would like to thank my parents and family for supporting my hockey, as well as my coaches and teammates that help me become a better person and hockey player." Jackson Hoem, 12th grade, Chippewa Falls.
