Thursday Regional Final Wrap-up

Girls

#2 Central Wisconsin 10, #7 Northland Pines 0

The Storm scored 6 in the first, 3 in the second, and 4 in the third against the Eagles. 10 Storm players recorded goals as the top lines got their ice time limited in the second and third periods. The Storm advance to host #3 Hayward on Tuesday.

#3 Hayward 11, #6 Medford 0

Hayward scored 5 in the first, 2 in the second, and 4 in the third. In the third period Abby Salo recorded her first goal of the season, and Helen Loder recorded her second. Hayward will travel to face the Storm on Tuesday. The Storm and Hurricanes have split two games this season, with the Storm winning 3-0 and the Hurricanes winning 4-1.

#4 Wisconsin Valley Union 4, #5 Northern Edge 3

The Wisconsin Valley Union defeated the Northern Edge 4-3 in double overtime on Thursday night. Double overtime means 3-on-3 hockey. Unfortunately the game hasn't been scored on the site yet, so we don't have further details. WVU will head to Superior to take on the top seeded Spartans on Tuesday.

Division 2

#1 New Richmond 13, #8 Chequamegon/Phillips/BUTTERNUT 0

New Richmond scored 7, 4 and 2 on Thursday night in taking down Team SEAL with the top lines doing a lot of sitting in the second and third periods. The Tigers will host Hayward on Tuesday.

#2 Amery 12, #7 Spooner 0

Amery scored 3, 4, 5 on Thursday to beat Spooner 12-0 and end Spooner's first season back in the WIAA after several years of being part of the Northwest Icemen. Amery will advance to take on #3 Rice Lake on Tuesday.

#3 Rice Lake, #6 Medford

Rice Lake hasn't had the success this year that they had last year, but they still won their first playoff game 10-0. The game hasn't been scored yet so we don't have any details. Rice Lake will take on Amery on Tuesday. Amery won their only previous meeting 6-2.

#4 Hayward, #5 WSFLG

The game hasn't been scored yet so we don't have any specific details, but Hayward knocked off WSFLG 10-0 on Thursday and will take on #1 New Richmond on Tuesday. New Richmond won the previous meeting 6-1.

Division 1

#1 Eau Claire Memorial 4, #8 Wisconsin Rapids 6

Eau Claire Memorial put 61 shots on Rapids goalie Mile Spurlin but he rocked a .934 sv% on the night, and Rapids used a 3-goal second period to take a 3-2 lead after two periods. Rapids scored an empty netter at 15:43 (5-3), ECM answered back with the extra attacker at 16:20 (5-4) and Rapids added another empty netter at 16:42 (6-4) to finish it off. They'll play #4 Hudson on Tuesday.

#2 SPASH 6, #7 Eau Claire North 3

Despite the fairly even shot totals (33-30) SPASH never trailed on Thursday night running to a 6-3 win over ECN. ECN made a third period charge, putting up 1/2 of their shot total in the frame. SPASH will face #3 Superior on Tuesday.

#3 Superior 7, #11 Marshfield 0

Marshfield couldn't sustain their magic after knocking off Wausau West on Tuesday, falling to Superior on Thursday. The Spartans scored 2 in the first, 1 in the second, before putting the game away with 4 in the third period. They'll travel to SPASH on Tuesday. The two teams have not met this season.

#4 Hudson 6, #5 Chippewa Falls 2

Hudson jumped out with a three goal first period giving them a lead that Chippewa Falls wasn't able to surmount in a game where only 43 shots were taken in total. Carson Strapon led the way with four goals. Hudwon will take on surprise foe Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday. They have not met this season.

Girls

#2 Chippewa Falls/Menomonie 2, #7 Black River Falls 6

In the big shocker of the night on the girls side, the Black River Falls Tigers downed  Chippewa Falls/Menomonie 6-2. The Tigers who rely heavily on goalie Sydney Magnusson have only scored 6 goals in a game twice this season, and neither of those teams was a #2 seed. The Tigers advance to take on #3 Coulee Region.

#3 Coulee Region 5, #6 Western Wisconsin 0

This game was 1-0 after two periods but the Cyclones popped off in the third with goals by McKenna LaFleur, Jaden Hammes, Brooke Borkenhagen, and Adeline Lee. Diana Hanson stopped 27 in the shut out. They'll face #6 Black River Falls on Tuesday. They've met twice this season with the Cyclones winning both, 5-4 and 4-1.

#4 Hudson Raiders 3, #5 Eau Claire Area 0

The Raiders scored one each period and limited the Stars to just 13 shots on goal to take the win. Kaylie Prater, Avery Haider, and Averie Martin spread the scoring around. Hudson takes on #1 St Croix Valley on Tuesday. They split two previous meetings with the Fusion winning 3-2 and the Raiders winning 5-2.

Division 2

#1 Lakeland 4, #8 Stevens Point Pacelli 1

Lakeland advances to take on North Land Pines with a 4-1 win over Pacelli. The game has not been scored as of press time.

#2 Mosinee 4, #7 Waupaca 2

Mosinee takes a 4-2 win over Waupaca. The game has not been scored as of press time.

#3 Rhinelander 2, #6 Antigo 1

Nobody scored in the first, both teams scored in the second and nobody scored in the third to send the game to overtime. Antigo only has 12 skaters and Rhinelander was without top scorer Joey Belanger who has a broken wrist. In the end the Hodags won in overtime off the stick of Leo Losch. They'll take on Mosinee on Tuesday. Mosinee won both previous meetings 7-2 and 3-0.

#4 Tomahawk 3, #5 Northland Pines 4

1-1 after 1, 2-2 after 2, and 3-3 until 16:20 of the third period when Gaige Marien scored to give Pines a 4-3 lead with time winding down. They'll advance to take on Lakeland on Tuesday. Lakeland won the previous meeting 6-2.

Division 1

#2 Bay Port 10, #10 De Pere 0

Bay Port ran away with this one, scoring 5, 3, and 2 and allowing just 14 shots on goal. Nick Voss led the way with two in the first and two more in the second. They'll play the winner of #3 Neenah/Hortonville/Menasha and #6 West Bend. 

#4 Ashwaubenon 0, #5 Fond du Lac 4

The game hasn't been scored yet so we don't have any details, but Fond du Lac knocked off Ashwaubenon 4-0. Another shutout for Spencer Shober. Fond du Lac will play the winner of #1 Notre Dame Academy and #9 Sheboygan.

Division 2

#1 Black River Falls 4, #8 Viroqua 0

Christopher Muir stopped all 18 shots he faced in the shutout and the Tigers scored 3 in the third period to pull away from the visiting Blackhawks. They'll face #4 Regis/Altoona/McDonell on Tuesday.

#2 Menomonie 7, #7 West Salem 5

Despite outshooting the Panthers 44-26, Menomonie only squeaked by with a 7-5 win on Thursday night as the Panthers put on a lot of pressure in the third period. The Mustangs will host #3 Baldwin-Woodville on Tuesday. 

#3 Baldwin-Woodville 8, #6 Somerset 3

The teams alternated goals for two periods, but it was all Hawks in the third period taking the period 3-0 while outshooting the Spartans 20-9 in the frame. The Hawks travel to Menomonie on Tuesday to take on the Mustangs. Menomonie won the previous meeting 5-2.

#4 Regis/Altoona/McDonell 5, #5 River Falls 1

This game has not been scored as of press time, but RAM won 5-1 and will advance to take on top seed Black River Falls on Tuesday. Black River Falls won the previous meeting 4-3 in overtime and the teams combined to take 100 shots on goal.

Division 1

#4 Madison Memorial 0, #5 Sauk Prairie 1

Luke Mast scored with 29 seconds left in the first period and that was it for Sauk Prairie and Madison Memorial. Kaden Stracke stopped all 31 shots he faced for the Eagles in the win. Sauk Prairie will play the winner of #1 Verona and #8 Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells/Mauston.
