The Black River Falls Tigers rebounded from their overtime loss to the Chippewa Falls/Menomonie Sabers with a 3-2 win over the Rock County Fury in the 7th place game of the WiPH Holiday Classic.

Black River Falls opened the scoring in the first period with a power play goal by Marah Noth.  Klarissa Canfield fired from the point an Noth tipped it in for the early 1-0 lead.

Rock County battled back and tied the game in the final minute of the period when Amery Struckey muscled her way from behind the net, and found Claudia Boehlke for a one-timer goal to even it up.

Black River Falls retook the lead in the second period when Courtney Magnuson fired a pass to Isabella Arne and Arne redirected it into the net. They added another goal 10 minutes later when Zowie Hunter knocked in the third rebound on a scrum in front.

Rock County would again score in the final minute of a period. Ava Kligora found her sister Emma with a pass and Emma deked the defense and goalie to make it 3-2, but no more goals would be scored and the Tigers would take the win.

Jillian Traver stopped 31 of 34 in the loss for Rock County and had 102 saves in the three game tournament. Sydney Magnuson stopped 24 of 26 in the win, and had 155 saves across the Tigers' three games.

Big Rivers Conference rivals Eau Claire Area and Chippewa Falls/Menomonie met in the consolation championship of the WiPH Holiday Classic. Last time they played Eau Claire Area took the 2-1 win, but this time the Sabers skated to a 3-0 win.

Neither team managed to score in the first period, but in the second Addisyn Buesgen took a long lead pass on the left boards, blew past the defensemen, and cut across the front of the net. She cut through the crease and backhanded it over the goalie.

Chippewa Falls would add two more goals in the third period. The first was a scramble in front of ECA net where Paige Steinmetz grabbed the puck and found an opening. The final goal was an empty netter by Rhylee Buesgen with time winding down.

Evie Pritzl played well in the loss, stopping 27 of 29 shots. Kasandra Herr stopped all 23 shot she saw in the win. These two teams will meet again on January 24th.

Eastern Shores Conference rivals Warbirds co-op and Fox Cities Stars have already met twice this season, with the Stars taking 1-0 and 6-2 wins, but much like the Chippewa Falls/Menomonie Sabers in the previous game, the Warbirds flipped the script in the third place game of the WiPH Holiday Classic and took a 4-2 win.

After a scoreless first period the Warbirds got two goals in two minutes midway through the second. On the first Ella Spies took a pass at the top of the slot from Ella Getz and roofed it.

For the second goal Sydriha Retzlaff battled the defenseman for the puck in the left face-off circle, won the battle and put the puck on the top shelf.

The Stars cut the lead in half about a minute and a half later. Julia Lindemann and Margaret Thomas came in on an two-on-one, and Thomas took a feed from Lindemann and redirected it in.

The Warbirds reestablished their two-goal-lead early in the third period with a power play goal by Allison Waara. But again the Stars battled back after a mad scramble in front of the net Megan Tesky managed to poke it in to cut the lead to one.

Unfortunately for the Stars they weren't able to score gain, and Waara added and empty netter with 16 seconds left to seal the deal.

Ella Sciborski had 15 saves on 18 shots in the loss for Fox Cities. Hailee Scheier had 22 saves on 24 shots in the win for the Warbirds.
