The WiPH Game of the Week featured a nonconference tilt with the Janesville Bluebirds hosting the Muskego Ice Force.

Janesville Coach Nick English was wanting to see  a fast start by his team in this game and his team responded  23 seconds into the game. The Bluebirds Ben Schaffner was able to poke a rebound past Muskego goalie Sam Siepert for the 1-0 lead.

A minute later Muskego had a chance to get the game tied when Janesville took a minor penalty. With Muskego in the offensive zone, Janesville's Skyler Swearngen was able to get a stick on a pass at the blue line. and poke it into the neutral zone and scored a shorthanded goal for a 2-0 lead just a couple minutes in.

But Swearingen wasn't done.

Just under 5 minutes left he forced a puck past a defender and scored on a 2 on 1 rush for the 3-0 lead.

Muskego got on the board almost a minute later to make it a 3-1 deficit. After a defensive zone faceoff, Mason Trinker got the puck and wet thru the Janesville defense and backhanded the puck over Janesville goalie Jaicy Campbell for the tally.

Janesville finished out the first period scoring . Janesville Captain Jake Schaffner got a puck by the right circle hash marks and sent a wrist shot in for the 4-1 lead thru one period.

Muskego in the second period came out with a purpose but couldn't get a goal to cut into the deficit and the second period went by scoreless.

Janesville finished off the games scoring in the third period. About halfway thru the period Tyler Steuck was able to get a loose puck and Jake Schaffner scored for the final score of 5-1.

In the game Muskego goaltender Sam Siepert made 34 saves, while Jaicy Campbell had 24 saves. Both teams after Christmas take part in holiday tournaments.
