Solid Team Effort Leads to Win

An anticipated close conference match-up was turned into an unexpected lopsided win for the Metro Lynx on Saturday evening. The Badger Lightning lost their second conference game in as many days. After falling to the Rock County Fury by a score of 4-3 on Friday, the Lightning traveled to Madison Ice Arena to play the Metro Lynx.

The Lynx were able to light up the scoreboard first, when Emma Stebbeds recovered the puck in the Lynx's defensive zone and took off. Stebbeds took the shot as she attacked the net uncontested to score at 5:53 of the first. The Lynx increased the lead to two at 6:10 of the period as Grace Bonnell assisted on Stebbeds second goal. The Lynx led 2-0 at the end of one.

The second period saw Stebbeds score her third goal of the night at the 4:35 mark. Less than thirty seconds later, Stebbeds scored her fourth goal with an assist from Scout Elmer. The Lynx increased the lead to 5 with 5:52 remaining in the period. Ella Cook passed the puck from behind the goal line to Anna Dalebroux in the low slot. Dalebroux one-timed in past the Lightning netminder. Badger Lightning trailed by 5 after two periods.

The third period was fairly quiet. The only goal came at 9:29 of the third. This time Stebbeds assisted on Grace Bonnell's goal giving the Lynx a 6-0 victory. Addie Armstrong finished the game with 16 saves for the Lynx, whil Alyssa Gada had 41 saves for the Badger Lightning.
