After putting up 11 goals against Monona Grove on 12/3, the Warriors opened Badger North play 'on the road' against the Norskis of DPL. The Ice Pond rivals have always played in front of filled seats, and the opening night of conference action was no exception.

Wearing their road 'away' jerseys, Waunakee fans took an unfamiliar seats on the visitors bleachers. But the game looked very familiar as the Warriors continued their scoring barrage on opposing goalies, defeating DPL 11-2 on Dec. 5.

Senior scoring machine Jason Ford helped himself to 4 goals and 5 assists, running his season totoal to 27 points, tops in Wisconsin Boys Hockey this season. Not to be left out of the goal scoring, junior Blake Anderson had one (and 4 assists), senior Ron Zaleski notched 2, sophomore defenseman Keegan Ford tickled the twine with one (and added 4 assists), and junior Devin Lysne lit the lamp for his first varsity goal. Senior forward Hunter Darger also pitched in with a goal, a short-handed marker in the second period.

Senior netminders Mitch Horras (1 period, 4 saves) and Nick Severson (2 periods, 13 saves) combined for the win.

There's no way the Warriors could continue wearing out goal nets at this torrid pace...or was there? The Thunderbirds of Baraboo/Portage came to the Ice Pond on Friday (12/9) after knocking off RWD, and had high hopes of taking down the mighty Warriors. Not so fast my friend...

Thirty-nine seconds into the game, senior captain Jason Ford opened up the scoring with assists to Keegan Ford and Connor Scheffler. This trend would continue for a while.

In fact it wasn't until Warrior junior Blake Anderson scored at the 8:40 mark of the second period that anyone OTHER than Jason Ford is found on the scoresheet. In all, Ford racked up three goals and four assists to lead the Warriors past the visiting Thunderbirds 10-4, and run their conference record to 2-0.

Anderson would also rack up a hat trick, while senior Ron Zaleski helped with 2 more.

Senior goalie Mitch Horras turned away 22 Thunderbird shots in winning his fifth game of the year.

Waunakee has won 5 of the last 6 games, including two conference games. They travel to Sauk Prairie for another Badger North showdown on Tuesday (12/13).
