Following solid non-conference performances against University School Milwaukee and Marquette High School, the Evergreens began conference play Tuesday night at home against the Merrill Bluejays.

Assisted by Sophomore Brady Borrell and Senior Alex Yde, Junior Brandon Dively quickly put Everest on the board within the first two minutes of play. Senior Colin Helke tipped in Sophomore Nate Bruns' slapshot for goal number 2 at 13:49, followed shortly there after by a coast-to-coast goal from Yde after receiving an Allan Sackman pass. Dively and Yde would pair up again for Dively’s shorthanded goal near the half way mark with Senior Mike Bushar nailing a slapshot (assisted by Bruns and Junior Eli Jasurda) to finish out the first period.
Senior Dustan Erickson began Period Two with a goal at the 13:53 mark (assisted by Jake Daigle) to put the game into running time. Defenseman Daigle knocked in the seventh goal of the evening (assisted by Junior Cole Halligan) followed quickly by Yde’s second and third goals of the game (first assisted by Mark Wilke from Brandon Dively, and then Junior Luke Merchant). Erickson ended the second period, unassisted, moving the Evergreens ahead by ten.
The Blue Jays held the Evergreens to two goals in the last period: a shorthanded score by Senior Lucas Dahlke (assisted by Junior Dylan Gusman) with 5:09 left in regulation and with just over 2 minutes remaining, a resounding one-timer by Freshman Chris Babiarz from Freshman Michael Plaza.
Bluejay goaltender, Freshman Stephen Simon recorded 47 saves in the contest with Everest’s Jared Enkers and Michael Moe sharing the shutout.
The victory moves the Evergreens to 4-0 overall, 1-0 in the conference with their next game set for Thursday at Marshfield.
