Six of the ten teams in the NCAA Division 3 Womens Hockey Tournament feature players from Wisconsin, and two of them are loaded with former WIAA hockey players.
From the NCAA Pairwise rankings, #1 Middlebury features one player from Wisconsin, #2 UW River Falls has seven, #3 Plattsburgh has one, #5 Nazareth has one, #6 Gustavus Adolphus has one, #7 UW Eau Claire has 10, and #23 Aurora, who upset #15 Adrian in the NCHA tournament have two.
Middlebury, Nazareth, Plattsburg, Aurora and Gustavus all got into the tournament by winning their conferences. UW River Falls and UW Eau Claire are pool-C entries based on their Pairwise ranking, as the WIAC does not have an automatic tournament berth.
Aurora qualified for their first ever Slaats Cup by upsetting top seed Adrian 3-0 in the semi-finals. They won the school's first ever Slaats Cup upsetting 3 seed St Norbert 5-1 in the final.
On Wednesdsay, March 9, UW-River Falls will take on Aurora, and UW-Eau Claire will take on Gustavus Adolphus.
