After getting their East vs West battles out of the way on Tuesday morning, the Wisconsin Prep Hockey Girls Holiday Classic continued on Tuesday afternoon at the Chippewa Falls Ice Arena.

Black River Falls vs Chippewa Falls/Menomonie Sabers

After losing their opening round games, Black River Falls and Chippewa Falls/Menomonie played a nail biter in the second round.

Zowie Hunter picked up the lone tally in the first period for Black River Falls, on a feed from Lexie Hagen. But Brianna Buonincontro tied it up just a minute into the second period after battling through two defenders to get free.

Joey Schemenauer one-timed a pass from down low with three minutes left in the second to put Chippewa Falls/Menomonie into the lead.

CFM extended the lead five minutes into the third when Tessa Leisses scored on her own rebound. But Black River Falls didn't give up and Hagen brought them within 1 with just under two minutes left, and Hunter tied it up with about 90 seconds left.

Madelyn Herbert knocked in a rebound three minutes into overtime to give CFM the victory.

Chippewa Falls/Menomonie moved on to face Hayward in the 5th place game, and Black River Falls moved on to face Rock County in the 7th place game.

Hayward vs Rock County

It looked like Rock County's overtime loss to Eau Claire Area earlier in the day caught up to them in this one as the Hayward Hurricanes out shot them 15-3 in the scoreless first period.

The Fury took the lead five minutes into the second period in a Lily Clark wrister from the low slot. The Fury held the lead for a few minutes until Riley Sprenger finally cracked the seal for the Canes to tie it up. After two it was 1-1 with Hayward holding a 35-5 shot advantage.

The shots continued to pile up, with Olivia Cronin doing excellent work for the Fury, but in the end Gillian Johnson gave the Hurricanes a 2-1 lead, and Sprenger extended it to 3-1.

The Canes added a power play goal with about 8 minutes left that deflected off a Fury defender and the game ended with the Canes taking a 4-1 win.

Hayward moved on to face Chippewa Falls/Menomonie in the 5th place game, and Rock County moved on to face Black River Falls in the 7th place game.

Warbirds vs Bay Area

In the first game of the winners bracket, the Icebears got on the board first with a short handed breakaway by Jordan Brady.  She added another breakaway goal in the second to make it 2-0.

Bay Area extended the lead to 3-0 on a nifty 2-on-1 with about a minute left in the second period.

The Warbirds finally got on the board with about six minutes to play. There was a scramble in front of the net, and the puck bounced off a skate and in to make it 3-1.

That was all the Warbirds could muster though, and Bay Area came away with a 4-1 win.

Bay Area moved on the the championship game to play Fox Cities, and the Warbirds moved to the third place game to face Eau Claire Area.

Fox Cities vs Eau Claire Area

Much like Rock County earlier in the day, the double over time game that the Eau Claire Area Stars played didn't do them any favors against the Fox Cities stars in the final game of round 2.

Fox Cities ended up outshooting Eau Claire Area 34-12 in the game on route to a 10-0 victory.

Grace Rentmeester, Peyton Smith, and McKayla Zilisch each had two goals for Fox Cities, and Gwen Gillard, Maleiyah Streck, Parker Beyer, and Ella Flattum had the other four.

Fox Cities moved on the the championship game to play Bay Area, while Eau Claire Area moved to the third place game to face the Warbirds.
