Cronin Keeps Fury in Game Early

The Rock County Fury and Metro Lynx met in Madison Ice Arena for a Badger Conference game on Thursday evening. The Lynx entered the game with an early season ranking as the best team in the state. The Lynx jumped to the early lead on a goal by Hannah Kasdorf with an assist from Grace Bonnell at 2:21 of the first period. The roles reversed at 5:20 of the first as Bonnell scored with an assist from Kasdorf. It looked like the Lynx would have an opportunity to increase the lead, when the Fury were accessed with a 5 minute major/10 minute misconduct for checking from behind. There was 2:19 minutes left on the major, when the Lynx were called for tripping turning it into 4-on-4 hockey. Rock County's Emma Kilgora scored an unassisted goal with 2:17 remaining in the first to make it a 2-1 game.

Metro Lynx continued to apply offensive pressure in the second period. Anna Faulkner was able to capitalize with a power play goal at 6:27, when a puck escaped the grasp of the Fury's Cronin, with Stella Raichie and Alina Stiller assisting. Faulkner picked up her second goal at 13:51 with Bonnell and Kaya Byce being credited with the assists. The Lynx led 4-1 at the end of 2 periods.

The third period turned into a penalty fest with a total of 6 penalties being called. The Metro Lynx took advantage of one of the Fury penalties at 12:48 as Emma Stebbeds scored a power play goal. Naomi Held and Annalice Dalebroux assisted on jamie Steinmetz's goal at 14:05 boosting the score to 6-1. The final goal of the game was scored with 16 seconds showing on the clock. Ally Jacobson took the shot from just inside the blue line and it was tipped in by Alina Stiller.

Abby Nutini had 10 saves for the Metro Lynx. Olivia Cronin had 47 saves for the Fury.
