Carsen Gause with 3 Points Leads Red Raiders to Victory

RWD and Wisconsin Rapids dropped the puck on the 2021-22 season with a game that went down to the final horn. RWD jumped to the early lead scoring 37 seconds into the game. RWD forced a turnover near the Red Raiders blue line and turned it into the first goal of the game as Brady Baldwin scored with Caden Brandt collecting the assist. RWD increased the lead to two at 14:56 of the first period, when Caden Brandt won a face-off to the right of Dakota Blasky (Red Raiders' goaltender) drawing it back to Logan DeMars. Logan slid it past Blasky for the goal. RWD led 2-0 at the end of one.

The second period would belong to the Red Raiders. Wisconsin Rapids went on their third power play opportunity a little over 7 minutes into the period. Josh Dekarske scored with Carsen Gause and Jacob Dekarske assisting on the play cutting RWD's lead in half. RWD went on their first power play opportunity of the night with 8 minutes remaining in the second period.However, it was the Red Raiders taking advantage. Thirty-one seconds into the penalty kill, Carson Gunderson hit Carsen Gause in the neutral zone with an outlet pass. Gause skated in a shot it past Cooper Oakes tying the game at 2.

The game remained tied late into the third period. Dane Kubisiak scored at 10:35 with Carson Gunderson and Carsen Gause assisting on the game winning goal. Cooper Oakes finished the game with 33 saves for RWD, while Dakota Blasky had 13 saves for Wisconsin Rapids.
