Midsummer Meltdown in Onalaska

Over two days, July 10th and 11th, 8 teams met in Onalaska to play 12 games in order to help prepare for next season's high school hockey season. I will note now that some of the names may be wrong as it was very difficult to read the names and figure out missing numbers.

Saturday, July 10

Game 1 - Viroqua 0 Onalaska 3
The opening game featured two fairly local teams as the Blackhawks and Hilltoppers took to the ice at 9 AM. Onalaska took the early lead on an unassisted goal by Jaden Hammes at 8:28 of the first period. The Hilltoppers' increased the lead to two, when Kiya Bronston scored at 7:14 in the second period. Lydia Waltz completed the scoring with an assist from Hammes with 2:26 remaining in the second period.

Game 2 - Arrowhead 1 Central Wisconsin 2
Central Wisconsin opened the scoring at 6:08 of the second period, when Hannah Baumann scored an unassisted goal. The Storm bumped the lead to two as Samantha Federici scored another unassisted goal with 6:10 remaining in the period. Arrowhead's Quinn Sundrol cut the lead to 1 with an unassisted goal at 11:08 of the second period. This completed the scoring for the game.

Game 3 - Warbirds 2 Black River Falls 1
The Warbirds scored a powerplay goal with 24 seconds remaining in the first period as Emily Brown and Kristi Binder assisted on Ellie Spies goal. Black River Falls tied the game early in the third on an unassisted goal by Zowie Hunter. The Warbirds claimed the victory with 18 seconds remaining in regulation as Kristi Binder assisted on Ellie Spies' second goal.

Game 4 - Shootout - Lakeshore 2 Rock County 2
Hailey Chanly scored in the second period with an assist from Zoe Hartmann. Addie McHughey scored an unassisted goal in the second period. Overtime ended with neither team scoring. Lakeshore won the shootout.

Game 5 - Central Wisconsin 5 Onalaska 3
Fifty-seven seconds into the game found Jaden Hammes putting the puck in the net with an assist from Kiya Bronston putting the Hilltoppers up by 1. A Kali Bronston powerplay goal with Haley Konish and Kiya Bronston assisting gave Onalaska a two goal lead at 9:59 of the first period. A Storm powerplay goal by Hailey Piskula with an assist by Samantha Federici completed the scoring for the first period.

Tristan Wicklund scored at 4:12 of the second with an assist from Samantha Federici to tie the game at 2. Onalaska regained the lead with an unassisted goal by Kiya Bronston's second powerplay goal of the game with 2:32 remaining in the period. Central Wisconsin tied the game at three one minute later with an even strength goal by Karissa Tranchita assisted by Hannah Baumann.

Central Wisconsin took the lead at 7:55 of the third on a goal by Abigail Dhein assisted by Hannah Baumann and Taylor Freidel. Samantha Federici completed the scoring at 13:40 with Hailey Piskula assisting.

Game 6 - Overtime - Arrowhead 4 Viroqua 3
Viroqua opened the scoring 59 seconds after the puck dropped to start the game as Aida Karwoski with an assist from Cadence Dehlin. Katlynn Johannsen tied the game for Arrowhead with an assist from Shannon Dwyer and Marina Evert.

Quinn Sundrol put Arrowhead in the lead with an assist from Shannon Dwyer and Katlynn Johannsen at 5:26 of the second. Arrowhead increased their lead as Marina Evert scored with an assist from Kelcy Gilbertson.

The Blackhawks cut the lead to one on a goal by Kendall Ekern with an assist from Sylvi Shonka and Freya Rising. Viroqua tied the game with 2:40 left in regulation on a goal by Gracie Goff assisted by Rhiannon Dehlin and Cadence Dehlin.

Arrowhead won the game in overtime on an unassisted goal by Marina Evert.

Game 7 - Warbirds 5 Lakeshore 2
Avery Verdegan gave Lakeshore the lead at 6:09 of the first with an unassisted goal. The Warbirds tied the game on a goal by Hannah Wilson assisted by Emily Brown and Ella Spies. The Warbirds took the lead by Ella Getz assisted by Kaylee Malson and Ella Spies.

Ella Spies increased the Warbirds lead 32 seconds into the second period with an assist from Emily Brown. Emily Brown scored an unassisted goal at 2:28 of the second making the score 4-1 Warbirds. Lakeshore's Kate Golden scored at 7:58. Ella Spies finished the scoring with 5:10 remaining in the second period.

Game 8 - Black River Falls 2 Rock County 1
The Tigers took the lead in the first period on a goal by Sierra Steele with an assist by Brenna Reynolds.

The Fury tied the game in the second as Lily Clank scored with an assist from Anna Malone and Olivia Combs.

The Tigers won the game as Zowie Hunter scored with an assist from Courtney Magnuson.

Game 9 - Rock County 4 Viroqua 0
Olivia Combs opened the scoring at 6:06 of the first period with an assist from Jena Loerke. Hailey Chanly scored a shorthanded goal at 10:30 with an assist from Sarah Edler.

Hailey Chanly scored in the second period with Hannah Chanly and Sara Edler assisting. Hailey Chanly scored an unassisted goal in the third period to complete the scoring.

Game 10 - Onalaska 3 Lakeshore 2
Kiya Bronston gave the Hilltoppers the lead in the first period with an assist from Jaden Hammes.

Lakeshore ties the game at 8:05 of the second with a goal by Sawyer Stein assisted  by Kate Golden and Addie McHughey. Kayla Finco put Onalaska back on top with Kiya Bronston assisting at 11:43 of the second.

Kiya Bronston scored an unassisted Hilltoppers' goal with 2:50 remaining in the game. Lakeshore's Allison Kellnor scored at 13:42, but were unable to tie the game.

Game 11 - Arrowhead 2 Black River Falls 0
This was a tight game until the very end. Arrowhead's Marina Evert scored the first goal at 5:05 of the third period with an assist from Katlynn Johannsen. Shannon Dwyer completed the scoring with an assist from Marina Evert at 10:41 of the third.

Game 12 - Championship - Warbirds 2 Central Wisconsin 0
All of the scoring was done in the first period. Ella Getz scored an unassisted goal 2 minutes 57 seconds into the game. Ella Spies scored an unassisted goal with 2 minutes 14 seconds remaining in the first period.
