Going all the way back to November, hockey players all over laced up their skates with one goal in mind; get to state. Now, Lakeland Union is on the doorstep of history.

The Thunderbirds defeated Rhinelander 5 to 1 on Saturday night and that clinched their first sectional title in school history. Lakeland got out to a hot start with two goals apiece from Victor Masayesva and Jack Rubo, but the door was slammed shut by goaltender Max Masayesva. The sophomore's sectional final performance continued a dominant postseason run.

"It's something I've always dreamed of since the beginning of the season, I had to step up this year and stepping up in playoffs, we need that. We need that if we wanted to make a deep run and we have," said Max Masayesva.
